Use less of the list

A checklist is a menu, not a contract. Remove anything that does not serve your version of Christmas.

Choose

Keep tasks that support your three words for the season.

Delegate

Give complete tasks to people, not vague requests to help.

Release

Delete work that exists mainly to meet an imagined standard.

The final-week rule

  • No new decorating projects after December 20.
  • No new gift recipients without removing another expense.
  • No complicated recipes without a make-ahead plan.
  • Keep one evening completely unscheduled.
